#5. Chapman: FreeLanguage.org.

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

This is the place I stayed last night.

This is the place I two nights ago.

Before I talk about Chapman and his project, I want to thank Cameron Beers for introducing himself and showing me amazing hospitality the other night.  He owns his own business in downtown Charlottesville, BA21,

that just recently finished a project for the LOOK Photography Festival in Charlottesville and also, the American Festivals Project, which is a crew of photographers traveling the USA hitting lots of obscure festivals, like the Mustache Festival in Alaska.

We stayed at his Mom’s and his place out right on the doorstep of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

It felt so good to be in the mountains.

It felt so good to be in the mountains.

“I just had this faith, that I knew it was going to succeed.”

I think this is how Chapman worded it, as we were driving back to Charlottesville on a beautiful, sunny morning, as he was sticking his multi-colored, striped socks out the window of the car.  The socks were a present from a friend’s grandma in Germany.

Ten years ago, he had started working on website projects, in order to fund his travels abroad.  Today, he has a site, www.FreeLanguage.org, which has a humongous collection of pages dedicated to connecting people to links to site, which can teach you many different languages for FREE!  He makes his living from the revenue the site makes from advertisements and affiliate income (basically, he is the middle man connecting people to sites that have products and, if I understand correctly, those sites give him a cut of the profits).

Chapman is energetic and confident.  He has a scraggly beard and great stories.

He is in Charlottesville visiting family (his family owns a bunch of businesses including Beer Run, which I have numerous recommendations to go to)

before he heads back to Poland; back to his “work.”

He was a Linguistics major in college, so he took his area of expertise, then he posted content on his site for 2-3 years before he was able to make a living from his site.

Now as we sat, sipping coffee, he was making money.

“I know, beyond I know, beyond I know,” was a quote from the movie, “The Secret.”

To illustrate that if you believe and pursue with an absolute faith, you cannot fail.

While hanging out with him, Cameron, and their cautious, yet intelligent friend, Rolph, I was becoming more and more certain that you can live the life you want, while giving to the world.

I feel as if I can not be stopped.

4. Calvin Washington: Everyone come together as one. 5-30-09.

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

Calvin Washington.

Calvin Washington.

At 12:00pm, I was walking through the Downtown Mall, looking for Wi-Fi.

I had planned a day of updating my site (it is eating at me that my new blog is so unfinished) and sipping good coffee.  Plus, I had a great time seeing some old friends last night, the Hefner’s and Brooks’ at the Gourds Show and also, meeting some new friends, Cameron, Chapman, and Rolph and listening to some techno and the Hill Country Revue at Mono Loco.  So I have all these stories and memories floating I need to write down.

Then, Calvin Washington happened.

“Everything is going to be alright!!!!”

His voice rings out loud and clear in the bustling afternoon lunch rush of the Downtown Mall.

“I’m saying, No Worries!!!”

He sounds like a gospel singer.  I had to stop.

“About a Thing.”

As he continues, I just started crying.  This guy hit me!!!

I uploaded a short clip HERE on YouTube.

So I listened.  An older woman came up to me as I was taking some photographs and said, she almost dropped her fork at a nearby restaurant.

"Every little thing, is going to be alright."

"Every little thing, is going to be alright."

He sings here a lot.

I asked him, if he had one thing to tell the world from what he has learned from life, and I recorded what he had to say.  Check this link on YouTube. (Sorry about the shakiness.)

"Everyone come together."

"Everyone come together."

Tommorrow, I will write up my new idol:

Chapman.

I don’t know his last night, but I do know that he has traveled the world for the past 10 years and now gets paid from his own websites with very little upkeep.  Plus, give a major blessing to Cameron for showing me a ton of hospitality last night and this morning.

I also want to write up a short blog on the Hefner’s and Brooks’ whom I saw at the Gourds show last night.

Thanks for checking out the site.

I am transferring blogs from my site at Change your world, so please be patient, if you want to check out the back story check out the older blogs there until I get this site going.

To many great things are Happening!!! I am overwhelmed!

In the past 24 hours, I got to connect with great friends, Nate and Alisa Hefner, and Janet and Tom Brooks while watching the Gourds.  I also met Cameron, Chapman, Rolph, and their friends and had a great night seeing music with them.  Then, I met Calvin Washington, the soul-touching street musician.

I am going to try to catch up the site in the next week.

Keep Rocking!!!
