Tashi is a Sherpa and a Market Owner in Burlington.

 Meet Tashi.

Tashi owns the Himalayan Food Market in Burlington, Vermont.  He has been in the United States for 6 years.  His family is a family of sherpas.  “I have trekked a lot.”  He is headed back to Nepal for his yearly visit.  Tashi is taking 5 people from Vermont and going to hike the Kala Patthar.  Kala Patthar is 18,192ft.  Tashi’s village is right at the base of this mountain.

He doesn’t understand the concept of hitchhiking, at first.  He tries to steer me in the direction of some dried foods.  Dried chick peas, a cornflake trail mix, or almonds, but I pass.
