My sidewalk, Route 302.

I came to New England to watch the Fall come in.  To watch the leaves turn bright orange and then die.  Recently, I hitched from Lyndonville, Vermont to Portland, Maine.  143 miles.  Not a huge distance, but there are no east to west highways in the Northeast so I was following the small and windy Route 302 the entire way.  

Mount Washington is the highest peak in the Northeast.

Route 302 took me right thru the guts of the White Mountain Region in New Hamsphire, past Mount Washington and the other Presidential peaks.  

I caught 10 different rides to take me the distance to Portland.

The Day of Me.

I thought about taking a ton of photographs and videos to try to capture the experience for you, but… I have decided to not tell you about the day.  Although I met some great folks whom went out of their way to show me this beautiful part of the country, I think I am going to keep this day for me.  

Live your day.

I hope that it encourages you to come up here yourself one day and experience it for you.  I also hope to remind myself that as much as I love photographs and goofy videos to remember places and people, that nothing can compare to breathing in the moments of your life and living them to the fullest.

This day of hitchhiking and breathing in the mountains was why I came up here.
