“When I go biking, I repeat a mantra of the day’s sensations:  bright sun, blue sky, warm breeze, blue jay’s call, ice melting and so on.  This helps me transcend the traffic, ignore the clamorings of work, leave all the mind theaters behind and focus on nature instead.  I still must abide by the rules of the road, of biking, of gravity.  But I am mentally far away from civilization.  The world is breaking someone else’s heart.”  ~Diane Ackerman

Meet Casey.

The big cities are tough!

As I was driving into Boston with Mark and his Corvette, I was already strategizing on how I would be leaving Beantown.  Metropolis’ are tough to find a good spot to hitchhike from and the people are a bit more suspicious.

I put an ad on Craigslist’s Rideshare and hoped but was also, researching the best places to hitchhike out of Boston on Digi-hitch, an online community of hitchhikers.

The night of my birthday, mid-celebration, I received an email from Casey, whom offered to drive out of her way to pick me up outside of Boston in Worcester, Massachusetts.  Casey was driving home to Minnesota after a bike trip across the USA.

Join the Cycle!

Casey and two of her friends just finished their bicycle journey across the country to promote bicycle travel as a primary form of transportation.  Check out the details of their trip on their blog.  Please shoot them out a shout of encouragement, if you believe in their mission.

They tell the story of the people they meet and give good information about the wonder of the bicycle.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be, which I will detail tommorrow in my post, The Beauty of a Lost Wallet. Hah!

Create Our World.
