To Baltimore: The Greatest City in America.
Near Scranton. Stocking up on Bacon & Sausage. Only for the Warmth.

Scranton again…
After a night of jamming with some friends to Cabinet, a local bluegrass band, in Scranton, PA. I am off! I was going to head west to meet up with a couple friends before I head South for the winter, but… the cold rain that is supposed to last through the weekend and low 30 degree weather change my tune.

Take me South.
Headed South…
About 5 miles south of Scranton is a major truck stop, where Freddie had dropped me off in mid-September. This is my place! I decide to satiate my bacon craving and hit the breakfast buffet. Norry, my waitress, makes me drink 4 cups of coffee and scrounges me up a piece of cardboard for my sign. SOUTH.
I am hoping to get out of the state. If I have to camp, I at least want the temps to be in the 40′s.

This is where I am catching my ride.
Meet Josh.
I am looking for the long ride. When Josh pulls up in a black pick-up heading towards Baltimore, I initially turn him down. I am very happy to be out of the hassle of hitching out of big cities and urban sprawl. He isn’t leaving the station though. He is heading in. So I think about it.
The Greatest City in America.
The public bus benches claim Baltimore is “The Greatest City in America.” That is a tough sell, although I do like the “Town of the Big House.” It helps that two of my favorite people in the world live here, my sister, Meaghan, and my good friend, Paul.
Quickly I realize that I can’t pass up this ride.
Engineering Sound.
Josh grew up in Baltimore and is headed back to visit some family and to check on his rental property. Josh recently moved to Brattleboro, VT and is working on nosing his way into the music industry. He took a drastic pay cut to get a job in what he wants to do. He also moved away from his friends and family. Most of his buds can’t understand why he would do that.
Josh went to school to engineer sound. Jobs are tough though. A lot of folks want to engineer sound. Josh is a good talker and the three hours go quick.
Gonna spend the weekend in Baltimore & then see where to head next. Monday the weather is supposed to be warmer and the sun is on the way.
