Nick & I go to King’s Dominion.

“Complex problems have simple, easy to understand, wrong answers.” – Henry Louis Mencken

My Sister drops me off near Washington DC, on her way to work.  I am off for the south!

I have two objectives:

1.  Get to warmer weather.

2.  Get a new driver’s license. (see story here)

Looking for a Bus.

Looking for a Bus.

Washington DC.

My plan in DC is to get out of DC.  I take the Metro as far south as I can to Franconia-Springfield and then take a bus down to Lorton, Virginia.  This is where I make my stand on the huge highway of 95, which heads all the way to Miami, Florida.  I stick out my thumb and hope.

Meet Nick.

A youngster pulls up with froofy hair.  By froofy, I mean, his hair looks like mine.  Nick has on a v-neck sweater and black Oakley sunglasses.  He is just leaving a job interview and heading home, near King’s Dominion.  King’s Dominion is an amusement park near Richmond, Virgina.  I have never been.

Nick recently got his master’s degree, but doesn’t want to get caught up in the “rat race.”  “Most people get a job and start saving money to have kids, cars, and…”  Nick thinks there must be another way.

Nick is knowledgeable about our nation’s current health care reform.  I ask for his opinions.  Nick explains a lot.  I follow most.  As we pull up to the truck stop, where he will be depositing me.  “There are two things my professor would want me to pass along…”  Unfortunately I forgot one, but I remember one, so I am going to rock this.

Moral Hazard.

The term Nick used was Moral Hazard.  Wikipedia states that Moral Hazard is when “a party insulated from risk may behave differently from the way it would behave if it would be fully exposed to the risk.”  Nick’s example was how a mother would handle her small child getting a cough.  If the doctor visit is very cheap, she will take her child to the doctor, which could eat up the time of the doc from seeing someone with a more serious illness.  However, if the mother had to pay much for the visit, she may instead chose to research on her own or try another method.

Basically, his point was that our health insurance system is not very efficient.  A lot of money is spent and made, when there may be simpler solutions.

A Complicated Issue.

We both agree the issue is very complicated and it is tough to get trust-worthy information.

If your knowledge on our nation’s Health Care Reform is extensive, please share.

Over sharing?

In Web Logs these days, or Blogs as most call them, you can find all sorts of information, that the writer probably should have kept out.  ”Oversharing” is the term coined in social media.

If you are on Facebook or Twitter, I am sure you are aware of these “oversharing” moments.

Let’s hope this post is not one of those moments.

Talkin’ Undergarments.

My sister surprised me with a new pair of underwear, when I visited her in Annapolis.  A birthday present that was badly needed!  I am not going to go into it, but my underwear situation has been grim.

This is not just any old pair of skivvies either.

Ex-Officio’s Give-n-Go Boxers!

Check out these specs;

Yo! We got 94% Nylon, with a touch of Lycra Spandex. A Rockin’, Silky, & Smooth Feelin’.  An Aegis Micro Shield keeps those devilish microbes from smelling up your one pair of boxers, hopefully, even while hiking or riding in cars all day.  A tight waistband keeps them from lagging and they come in all sorts of masculine colors, like Charcoal, Ocean, or Deep Palm.  Are you sold?

“Odor Resistant Finish keeps you feeling fresh.”

I haven’t even mentioned the best part.  You can wash them in a sink every night & because these babies dry so quickly you sling them over a tub, shower curtain rod, or towel rack, and by morning, your un-mentionables are ready to be mentioned again.

Are you sold?

Stay tuned for my review about how they are holding up after 6 weeks.

***A side note, if you have nice enough to invite me into your home to crash, you must have a place to dry my Boxers.***

“To me, photography is an art of observation.  It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place…  I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.” – Elliott Erwitt

Meet Paul.

Paul is my very good friend, whom I crash with in Baltimore for a couple days.  He is on his way to becoming a School Counselor & he loves old camera’s and film.  Here are of my favorites from his work:
