I met this youngster in Charlottesville, Virginia at the very beginning of my travels. She is holding a sketch of her father.

President Obama declares…

Back in our President’s address to Congress in February, he urged all people to go to college.

“Whatever the training may be, every American will need to get more than a high school diploma. And dropping out of high school is no longer an option. It’s not just quitting on yourself, it’s quitting on your country.”

I agree, although…

I think it is as beneficial, if not more so, to travel to countries and cultures other than your own.  That travel should be as much a part of our education as high school and college.

Meet Rita Golden Geldman.

Rita has been a nomad for the past 23 years.  She has traveled the world and lived in remote corners with cultures much different from ours.

However, she is currently in Washington DC promoting her national movement.

“We’re a national movement whose mission is to encourage and assist youth in the United States to have international experiences, particularly during the year between high school and the next phase of their lives.”

To Travelers & One-Day Travelers…

I am challenging you to share your learning experiences.  How has traveling effected you?  Where have you been?  What have you learned?  How do you feel about what you have learned?
