Doing Nothing: Video Blog.

“You’ll never get what you really want. All you can do is give what you really want!” – David Deida
A week ago, when I was on top of a nearby mountain (okay, not like Everest or anything, but I had to hike up a good distance to get here) I made a short video blog about what I did up there, why I was up there, and one specific question I asked myself.
Watch the video below or if you would rather read, check below that for what I was up too.
For a week, I didn’t talk, read, write, use any electronic devices, and tried to really limit ‘doing’ anything. The goal was to just ‘be.’ I also, wanted to ask myself a question, “What is my deepest purpose?” Lately, as the road of my travels grows and grows, I am realizing I have to start making some money to continue my travels. But I really want to align how I make money with what my unique gifts are and what activities fulfill me on my deepest level. So I wanted some quiet in order to figure this out.
What did I come up? What is my deepest purpose? What fulfills me on a deep level?
1. Learning about myself, about people, and our worldwide culture through traveling.
2. Forming and maintaining intimate relationships with others.
3. Sharing what I have learned and experienced with others by writing, photographing, and making videos.
What is your deepest purpose? What do you need to do in your life so that you can die happily? Does your current means of making money align with your deepest purpose?
Are these questions unanswerable or impossible? Too idealistic? Or is it possible to do what you love and make it pay?
I would love to hear your thoughts about these questions, please comment below.

Ben

I’ve tried few times to do something similar to what you did. Go somewhere isolated, keep quiet, find some answers. But somehow, I don’t think that worked for me. I would get rather desperate and lonely in those situations. What I think works for me for finding my purpose is following my intuition, trying to do more and more things I like each day and see where that will take me. But I usually loose my track after a while… and then few months, or years after I have to start again… now again, I feel like I’m on a good track. Maybe this time, I’ll stay on it! How did you know you have to travel? What told you that?

Jadranka,
It was very tough for me too! The hardest part of the trip so far, by far. It actually felt the best after 5 days of thinking I had it, then was about to give up. Then Whoosh! of joy and mucho feeling of connectedness. Then started looking for work on the internet & it left again. Have to keep it up everyday.
I knew I had to travel because it really felt right. It was almost like I didn’t have a choice.
