Jadranka,
It was very tough for me too! The hardest part of the trip so far, by far. It actually felt the best after 5 days of thinking I had it, then was about to give up. Then Whoosh! of joy and mucho feeling of connectedness. Then started looking for work on the internet & it left again. Have to keep it up everyday.

I knew I had to travel because it really felt right. It was almost like I didn't have a choice.

I've tried few times to do something similar to what you did. Go somewhere isolated, keep quiet, find some answers. But somehow, I don't think that worked for me. I would get rather desperate and lonely in those situations. What I think works for me for finding my purpose is following my intuition, trying to do more and more things I like each day and see where that will take me. But I usually loose my track after a while... and then few months, or years after I have to start again... now again, I feel like I'm on a good track. Maybe this time, I'll stay on it! How did you know you have to travel? What told you that?
