Be a 17 year old Art Gallery Owner: The Vintage Theater.

Mandi, Melissa, and Thaddeus are my new Scranton friends.

The Vintage Theater

I was inspired recently.

I attended the new opening of The Vintage Theater in Scranton, PA with my new Scranton-ite friends.  The Theater recently moved, narrowly avoiding being shutdown and was celebrating a new era.

What I thought was inspiring was that the founder is Connor O’Brien, a local high school student.  17 years old and he is helping run an art gallery!!!

Satellite rocks the opening. They are still in high school too.

I was a Weed Puller at 17.

I was thinking two things when I met Connor.

1.  When I was seventeen, the only job I had had was pulling weeds at a local farm and greenhouse.

2.  How many people want to “run an art gallery” and are not because of one reason or the other.

How many people are not doing what they really want because of… I don’t know enough about art (substitute job of your choice)…  I don’t have the money…  It is a bad market now…  My 401K is going pretty good, maybe next year… I need to get a bachelor’s degree, first… a masters degree, first… a doctorate degree, first…

Old, Rich, Pinky Up, and Wearing a Large Broach.

Old, Rich, Pink Up, and Wearing a Large Broach.  This is the “wall” I had in my head between myself and running an art gallery.  I always mentally picture gallery owners like this.  Connor is not this.  Young, energetic, and a bit fiddegty, he is.

“You have to try the coffee.”  Connor insists we try the coffee.

Nike was on to something.

My point is Go Do It.  Take that trip.  Get that job.  Quit that job.  Buy a dog.  Ask her or him out on that date.  Whatever it is.  Do It.  Now.

Be a 17 year old Art Gallery Founder!  Or whatever it is you want!  But do it now.

Then, tell me about it and share it with the community here.  Inspire others.  Live your dreams.

Welcome to the Electric City!  I decided to throw down my root for a few days here, because… well, it just felt right.  Here are some photos:
